Best. Day. Ever.

So....

I GOT IN!

I am officially in the WDWCP Spring Advantage 2011 in Merchandise!!! It isn't Jungle Cruise, but hey! I'm still going to Disney!

So I got my invitation today around 2:00 today and opened it less than 20 minutes after it was sent (impeccable timing). I accepted the invitation, sent my Assessment Fee, and confirmed my arrival and departure dates!

I will be arriving January 19, 2011 and departing August 5, 2011. I will be driving down with my mom (possibly my dad as well) and I will keep my car with me. We will probably stay for a few days before check-in at a Value Resort and enjoy my last trip as an uninformed tourist. XD

So now, it is time to figure out where I want to live... I don't know much about the housing and I can't find anything about it either. I know Vista Way is the "main" area and Chatham is fancy. I don't know anything about Patterson. I think there is another, but I don't even know! The ONE thing I don't know about Disney. Of course.

I can't wait to be able to do my roomie search, too! I already Facebooked some people arriving the same date that I am so hopefully we get to be friendly enough to live together. I'm hoping to plan a pre-check-in get together at Downtown Disney. I think it would be pretty fun.

This is totally bizarre.... I can't believe this day has come! I've waited my entire life to work at Disney and it is FINALLY here. This is absurd.... YAY!

A New Beginning

I am starting this blog a little late compared to others, but I was debating for a while on whether or not I should actually do this. I decided I should because my family is probably very tired of hearing about my Disney obsession.

My name is Amanda and I am an 18 year old going to community college seeking a degree in the health sciences. I am nearly halfway done with my Associate's in Science as I have been attending college full-time since my senior year of high school. My current plan for life is to become a doctor and work in dermatology. I have this weird love of pimples.... Don't ask why. I have no answers. *cough*MYGROSSSISTER*cough*

The thing that really separates me from the crowd is my love of all things Disney. I am a member of several Disney discussion boards, have been to Walt Disney World twelve times, and between the ages of 12 and 18, my bedroom was almost a shrine to Mickey Mouse. Yes, I am creepy. Sorry. =P

So I have been waiting basically my whole life to work for Disney and the time has finally arrived! I applied to the Disney College Program at the Walt Disney World Resort on Friday August 27, 2010. I had my phone interview the following Tuesday, which was August 31, 2010. I applied for eight roles:
1. Attractions
2. Vacation Planner
3. Hospitality
4. Transportation
5. Merchandise
6. Concierge
7. Costuming
8. Housekeeping (was asked to apply by the interviewer)

NOTE: The first three are my tops. The rest are listed in no particular order other than Housekeeping because I really have no desire to clean hotel rooms. Sorry Disney. =X

I don't know exactly what they put as my Number One role, but any of the three is fine. But the more I think about it, I REALLY want to work on an attraction with a spiel. Not sure what one, but I would LOVE to talk all day, every day.

My interview was pretty average. The guy on the phone sounded like he was at his house with his kids (could hear playful yelling in the background). He seemed less than interested and asked after many of my answers, "anything else?" which worries me deeply. I feel like maybe I wasn't giving the correct answers, but I said what I felt and meant. *begins to bite nails in anxiety*

So now begins the 3-4 week wait for an e-mail, phone call, or packet in the mail. I want to join the Purple Folder Brigade!!! I also want to meet John Henselmeyer. O_o Sorry, but he's a babe...

So that's all for now. Remember that there's a great big beautiful tomorrow...
